A Mini Caliphate Model

This article is part of a series on Islamic System of Government. Please read full series here.

Since the time of caliphate, there has been a sheer need of a true Khilafah model. Where people would live their lives according to the principles of Caliphate of Prophet Muhammad .

Since:

  • There’s no government ready to: let go of interest-based transactions, fake paper currency; and implement Shariyah Law.
  • There’s no free land available worldwide where a few people could go and establish their own state without conflicting with their existing governments.

There needs to be a Model Khilafah where people:

  • Can come and join on their freewill.
  • With halal and interest-free incomes (or otherwise no income i.e. poor) are accepted.
  • Live a free life, beyond the slavery of capitalism (i.e. System of Dajjal)
  • Offer congregational prayers and Jummah after the imam.
  • Figure out and solve their matters through mutual cooperation.
  • Avoid all interest-based transactions.
  • Make their transactions with the currency of their state but (since paper currency is in itself a form of interest), translate their transactions to gold and silver rates.
  • Give dawah to their state (and everyone worldwide) to establish a full-fledged system of Khilafah expanding on this small model.

Having said that, it’s my pleasure to disclose that, we, here in our small community in Islamabad, Pakistan, have started to live such a mini Model Khilafah.

Here’s how it works:

  • I have been blessed with the opportunity to invite people to the signs of end of times and to the final Khilafah of Imam Al-Mahdi for past few years.
  • Inspired by the movement, a few people have decided to leave behind the capitalistic lives, and join us over here.
  • We recognize as Muhammad Qasim bin Abdul Karim, will be Imam Al-Mahdi in future, after he’s corrected, inshaAllah.
  • Since Muhammad Qasim:
    1. is not corrected yet.is not ready to accept the responsibility of caliphate.is not recognized by the government yet.
But Allah’s Deen is complete, and a complete practical model of Islamic Caliphate is available through authentic references. So Allah’s wrath has started over the people who are:
    1. living in denial of true principles of Islam.not making effort to clear themselves of shirk and its hidden form.involved in interest based transactions.denying that Muhammad Qasim will be Imam Mahdi in future.
    So…
  • We have started to live our lives according to the principles of the Caliphate of Madinah WITHOUT conflicting with the state or its departments or its personalities:
    1. We try to avoid all forms of shirk and invite others to the same.
    2. We have decided not to offer Salah after the imams who do not accept Muhammad Qasim will be imam Mahdi and do not invite the governments towards an interest-free and shirk-free state. So we establish congregational prayers ourselves including Jummah prayer. The Friday sermon is an important part of the system where every member of our Model Caliphate is required to join-in.
    3. Responsibilities are assigned to every member. So some people are dedicated to keep an eye on safety concerns for everyone, some manage the operational matters, some see the technical department and so on. Rest of the members are free to live their lives; earn a livelihood and so on unless they don’t disobey the Shariyah rulings.
    4. Every member is required to pay Zakat to model caliphate, if they meet the requirements defined in Shariyah. We don’t have a rich-enough member so far though.
    5. Since we are law-abiding citizens of the state and have no intentions to break the law or conflict with the state, we still have our dependency on the paper currency. But we have figured out a way to make paper-currency transactions Shariyah-compatible. i.e. we translate every transaction to the value of gold or silver.
    6. Since we are law-abiding citizens of the state, we DO NOT give physical punishment to any member who disobeys the rulings of Shariyah, we however discipline them in two ways:
      1. friendly advice to mend their ways.
      2. if the problem persists, may advise them in presence of other members.
      3. if the problem is sever enough, like persistent involvement in shirk, indulgence in interest-based transactions or denying to submit Zakat; we simply let them free from our membership. They are free to live wherever they are but they are not considered our members and are not welcomed in the Jummah prayer with us.
All of the above has occurred to members of past members.
    7. We run our expenses from the contributions where possible, and possibly Zakat. For Zakat to be applicable, there have to be the members who are rich enough to either own a business, or have enough savings. So far, we are quite humble in this regard and have hardly any member who is eligible to pay Zakat.

With above principles, there’s has never been, and will never be (inshaAllah), a need to:

  • Conflict with the state.
  • Punish any member physically.

And with above principles, we have fulfilled our responsibility to present a model of Khilafah to the world. It’s our little way of saying:

O’ Allah, this is our little effort towards what you demand from people. We are not the rulers of a state, but we are doing what we could. Please spare us from Your wrath that has been written for the people who do not run their governments according to your Quran, or demand to be governed according to Quran.

Rules to Follow

Rules of Model Khilafah have to be based on the rules set by Allah through Prophet Muhammad , which can be understood from the following narrations:

1.

Narrated Talha bin ‘Ubaidullah: A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah’s Apostle and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying, till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam.
– Allah’s Apostle said, You have to offer prayers five times in a day and night (24 hours). The man asked, Is there any more (praying)? Allah’s Apostle replied, No, but if you want to offer the Nawafil prayers (you can).
– Allah’s Apostle said to him: You have to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan. The man asked, Is there any more fasting? Allah’s Apostle replied, No, but if you want to observe the Nawafil fasts (you can.)
– Then Allah’s Apostle said to him, You have to pay the Zakat (obligatory charity). The man asked, Is there any thing other than the Zakat for me to pay? Allah’s Apostle replied, No, unless you want to give alms of your own.
And then that man retreated saying, By Allah! I will neither do less nor more than this. Allah’s Apostle said, If what he said is true, then he will be successful (i.e. he will be granted Paradise).

Al-Bukhari 0046

2.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A Bedouin came to the Prophet and said, Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise, if I do it. The Prophet said:
– Worship Allah, and worship none along with Him (i.e. never involve yourself in polytheism),
– Offer the (five) prescribed compulsory prayers,
– Pay the compulsory Zakat,
– Fast the month of Ramadan.
The Bedouin said, By Allah, in Whose Hands my life is, I will not do more than this. When he (the Bedouin) left, the Prophet said, Whoever likes to see a man of Paradise, then he may look at this man.

Al-Bukhari 1397

3.

Narrated Abu Huraira: One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked:
What is faith? Allah’s Apostle replied, ‘Faith is to believe in Allah; in His angels; in meeting to Him (after death); in His Apostles; and to believe in Resurrection.
What is Islam? Allah’s Apostle replied, To worship Allah Alone and none else; to offer obligatory prayers; to pay Zakat; and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan.
– What is Ihsan? Allah’s Apostle replied, To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.
When will the Hour be established? Allah’s Apostle replied, The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its portents.
1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master.
2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of higher buildings.
3. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah. The Prophet then recited: Verily, with Allah (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour… (31. 34)
Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him. The Prophet said: That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion. Abu Abdullah said: He (the Prophet) considered all that as a part of faith.

Al-Bukhari 50

Based on the life and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, the rules of Model Khilafah would be:

  • You have to accept that:
    1. There’s no God worthy of worship but Allah:
      • The idols are worth of worship.
      • Jesus and Marry are NOT Gods or relatives of God.
      • Avoid all forms of exposed and hidden shirk (polytheism).
    2. Prophet Muhammad was the final Prophet of Allah. There was, and there will be no prophet after him.
    3. Muhammad Qasim bin Abdul Karim has been chosen by Allah as Imam Al-Mahdi – the caliph of end of times under whom a worldwide Islamic Khilafah would be established.
  • If you choose to live here with us, you should offer congregational prayers with us. You must not miss the Friday congregational prayer and sermon unless you have a very solid excuse for it.
  • You have to live a life of piety and follow all principles of Islam, and never break a Shariyah rule intentionally.
  • `If you are blessed enough to have Zakat applicable on you, then you have to pay your Zakat to Model Khilafah. Which will be used to (a) run the affairs of Model Khilafah and (b) support the financially less-fortunate ones within model khilafah. Read more about it here.
  • You may want to contribute to important needs of the Model Khilafah and help the needy around you, if you can afford to do so.
